Little Flowers Never Worry

My sisters and I grew up singing this song with our dad. It was a regular for us before his Sunday morning sermons. I am not sure why but this song is back in my spirit as its been raining all week.

Rain means so many different things and as I said in a previous post, how do you pray for it when it could mean a flood and destruction for someone else.

But I need the rain of God’s presence all over me and through my life right now. There is not an area that doesn’t need to be soaked by the water of His Holy Spirit. But like the flowers I won’t worry about how loud and boisterous the wind sounds as the rain falls, I will bask in the blessing.

- by Beth Barnard

Little flowers never worry
When the wind begins to blow.
And they never, never cry
When the rain begins to fall.

Oh, it’s wet and oh so cold,
Soon the sun will shine again.
Then they’ll smile unto the world,
For their beauty to behold.

When the clouds begin to gather
And the storm begins to blow,
Little flowers don’t complain,
Though they’re tossing to and fro.

Oh, I guess they’ve learned the secret,
They don’t fret because they know,
If it never, never rained,
Then they’d never, never grow.

So, let it rain, let it rain, let it pour,
Little trouble keep on knocking at my door,
If we’ll learn the right from wrong,
It will help to make us strong.

Lord, please help us learn the secret,
Even little flowers know,
If it never, never rains
Then we’ll never, never grow.

  1. Beth,
I to grew up singing this as my dad played the piano. This song brings back so many great memories. As an adult, I can fully understand the true meaning of this beautiful song.

  2. i sang this song solo at the junior choir at church! :-)

  3. Wow, I can’t believe this song reached so many people. It was written by Danny Lee Stutzman. He just went by Danny Lee. His group was Danny Lee and the Children of Truth. My mom dated him the 70′s. They met at Faith Temple Church in San Jose on San Pedro Street. I think the song is on an album entiltled “Essence” He moved to L.A. in about 1976 I think and tried to get into secular music. He wrote a song for Elvis called “Temporary Love”. It was a great song but Elvis died before it became a done deal. Danny died, I can’t remember how, I think right around 1980. He wrote many great gospel songs. Faith Temple was a great church it was also the home church of Nancy Harmon.

    • I have finally contacted John T. Benson Company who is the copyright owner of this song published in a collection called 100 Heart Warming Sacred Songs.

The song is no longer in print. So I have purchased 10 photocopy licenses so as people need a copy I can legally make a copy and provide it.

So if you need a copy of the sheet music, email me at warrencindy (at) peaces.com. If you need an audio copy of it being song, I have both a CD or mp3 accessible from me.

      • I would love a copy of that mp3! Is there a link you can provide or a way to email it?

      • Just send me an email and I will email it to you.

      • I’d like a copy of the sheet music and the mp3
This song has been a blessing to me for 35 years. Heard it at a revival and got the cassette tape of the service from the church that night.
Always sing it to myself when “troubles come.” Was telling a friend about the song the other day and she has the perfect voice to sing it for her church. I’m so excited!!!! Thank you so much.

      • Hi Warren,

I know it has been a long time…but do you still have the ability to provide me with a copy of this…I would really appreicate it if you could.

      • I desperately need a copy of the music sheet as my 5-year old daughter wants to sing at church. I’ve been struggling to have the copy to no avail. Thank you so much and God bless.

      • My mother-in-law is one of Danny Lee’s older sisters. I have been looking for his music to make a copy of his music for her. We have several of his old albums but they are quite worn. I didn’t know much about Danny Lee until we started playing his records to try and record them to an MP3. What a beautiful musician!

  4. I have an MP3 of the song as well as the sheet music for anyone who wants them.

email me at (warrencindy at peaces.com)

  5. My Mom passed away 5 weeks ago. She sang at church all time time and this song was one of her staples I’ve found the sheet music and a few recordings on line but when my Mom sang it was simple I saw that someone had a recording and would love to have it. When mom was practicing a song she would sing it all the time so I would know it by heart by the time she sang it in church. After she passed away people have told me that they remeber me sitting in the back mouthing the words. I’m glad that this song has brought other people than me good memories.

  6. I used to have the piano music for this song and I can’t find it. Do you know where I can get it. My mom LOVES this song. I used to play it and sing it for her. I want to get a copy and have it on file. She wants it to be played at her funeral. PLEASE HELP!

  7. I also grew up singing this song. Although it is very simple, it has been profound for me all through my life. I added this song to a CD I recorded in 2001. If you have any need for a recording of the song I would be glad to email an MP3 of it to you. Blessing to you…

    • I would love that if you would be willing to send it to me at deb600@aol.com

    • I would also love a copy of that song – I thought Heritage Singers recorded it but I can’t find it anywhere. Is there a place I can go to download it or do you need further contact information?

    • My Mom has been looking for this song for a while and can’t seem to find it. If you could could you e-mail me the song so that I can pass it on to her. Thank You
